Conducted in small groups and structured on four levels of 8-10 lessons, students enroll the workshop 5-6 years old and complete their life-time skill for reading and spelling in less than two years. The workshop is particularly impactful for the following reasons:
- It emphasizes a solid foundation in aural, oral and intellectual development through phonic reading and spelling. Students are groomed to harness spelling tasks of vocabulary familiar and unfamiliar, simple and complex. The ability to accomplish this without much effort boosts both confidence and interest for learning the English language.
- The class is conducted in English and aided by Chinese to maximize comprehension. It involves no window-dressing play activities but targets academic goals delivered in an articulated and lively manner. Each student can be accompanied by a parent in the class.
- Students are taught the Oxford accent. However, the difference between American and British pronunciation and spelling will also be highlighted, adding both breadth and depth while minimizing confusion.
